LEWIS TEMPLE

Ministries (CEM)

Lewis Temple Church is a teaching church and the Christian Education Ministry is one of the ministries where teaching happens each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.  All instruction at Lewis Temple is biblically based and doctrinally sound. The Christian Education Ministry (CEM) at Lewis Temple is centered upon equipping "for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:" (Ephesians 4:12). In support of our vision and through active participation in Christian Education our goal is to provide specialized trainings, seminars, fellowship and mentoring while individuals acquire the tools and skills needed to lead others to Christ and to each other.

The following ministries fall under this department:

  • Bible Study - Every Wednesday 6:30 p.m.

  • Sunday Christian Education Ministries  - Every Sunday 10:00 a.m.

  • Vacation Bible School - During the Month of July

Every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Sunday Christian Education Ministries

Each week we gather at 10:00 a.m. to learn more about Christ and the Word of God as we fellowship with others and are challenged by a deeper understanding of God’s Word. When you attend worship at 11:45 a.m., Sunday Christian Education Ministries (CEM) connects these two worship experiences. Our teachers enjoy seeing your smiling faces and hearing your feedback.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study

Current Study Materials:

The Pursuit of God- A. W. Tozer / Classic Christian Audio Books

Chapter 1 Reflection Questions

  1. Tozer writes that the doctrine of justification of faith has led some to interpret the conversion experience as mechanical and spiritless. As we share the Gospel with people, how can we ensure that we present it as life and spirit-filled?

  2. What are some specific ways that Christians can lovingly mentally engage with God?

  3. Tozer writes that the phrase “accepting Christ” is not found in the Bible. How do you think this phrase has become a part of our church language? Do you use the phrase? What do you mean when you use it?

  4. Tozer writes that “complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth.” What are some specific ways that that Church is showing complacency today? How could we become less complacent?

Chapter 2 Reflection Questions

  1. What does the phrase "take up the Cross" mean to you personally?

  2. Other than God, what do you love most dear? What "thing" is the most difficult to give up for God?

  3. Try to put yourself in Abraham's shoes when God asked him to sacrifice his son. What would you have said to God?

  4. In what ways doe we define ourselves by the "thing" we possess? How would we change if we no longer possessed those things?

Chapter 3 Reflection Questions

  1. Tozer writes that God "meant us to see Him and live with Him and draw our life from His smile. "What would seeing God, living with God and drawing your life from His smile look like in your life?

  2. What is the difference between the omnipresence of God and the manifest Presence of God?

  3. Tozer writes that the Presence of God is the central fact of Christianity. If you were to survey today's Christians, what do you think they would claim as the central fact of Christianity??

  4. Which Person of the Trinity are you most comfortable knowing and seeking? Why do you thik this is?

Chapter 4 Reflection Questions

  1. Which of your five physical senses do you find the most clamorous, the most insistent, the most distracting from your spirit-life?

  2. How can we treat God more as a Person and less as an ideal?

  3. What are some ways we can “break the evil habit of ignoring the spiritual?”

  4. What connotations does the phrase “other-worldly” have for you?
